Absolutely Fabulous (That’s Fabulous, Darling)

Devil had a great time out in the Nightlife District tonight. Why? Well…it’s because of the people he was with.

I’ll start from the beginning…

This afternoon I headed into the Metropolis to stop in at the office and see how things were progressing without me and to try out my new punk hair and accompanying punk attire. It was definitely attention grabbing.

Apparently I’ve been getting a crap-load of phone calls from people wanting my expertise…and me being the only person able to do what I do…there was obviously no one else there to do it.

And I kind of feel sorry for the receptionist. She’s been answering my phone and getting abused by people that have been calling for me when she tells them that I’m on holidays. Meh…I’ll be back on Tuesday so I’ll deal with it all then.

Apparently I have about 30 phone messages…and I swear…if any of them are from The Prospective Lawyer…she will suffer my wrath.

After stopping in at the office, I had about 2 hours to kill before everyone was going to get together for the sun-downer / send-off so I wandered around the city for a bit and stopped in to a few of the stores I had been meaning to but never got the chance to. I also wandered a bit further out of the Metropolis than I usually would on my lunch break.

Perhaps it was a sign or perhaps it was providence…but as I was walking past one of the stores I saw a flyer for an art exhibition. Any submissions were welcome but there was a catch (as there usually is). The exhibition is a small independent production, is theme based and is for a charity event for which 40% of any sales are paid to the charity.

I believe it was providence because it was only last night that The Grey Wolf was talking to me about photography and about some of the photos he had taken on his overseas trip. I immediately messaged him about it and he’s agreed to do some collaborative work with me on it (pending further discussion of course) but even as I was looking at the flyer, I could envision the completed work.

All that I would need from The Grey Wolf would be his photos and then combining them with the photos I already had and my Photoshop skills…I think I could make something worth selling.

I’ll of course split the remaining 60% of the sales with him but if I know him as well as I think I do, he’ll want to donate the entire amount. Not having any reputation in the photography field I think the important thing is to get the exposure so I guess donating the entire amount wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

And no…I’m not donating to the charity because I’m a nice guy…I’m donating to charity because it will make me look good and increase my reputation, so shut the hell up.

I’ll need to meet up with The Grey Wolf soon to further discuss this collaborative project.

After getting the details about the exhibition I stopped into one of the rock climbing stores to buy a caribina. When I went to the rock climbing gym the other night, the guy that worked there was true to his word and gave me a 6 month student concession pass (I’m still a student until the end of the month technically) so I bought the carabina with the money I saved.

Further to that, because I’m a member of the rock climbing store itself, I was also entitled to a discount on any purchases I made so I managed to save a few more pennies. I’m really happy with the carabina I got. It’s a screw gate and it’s really light. Oh…and it’s blue which totally matches my rock climbing shoes.

After that, I headed over to the pub where the sun-downer / send-off was taking place.

(G) was also there…but this time…I didn’t really have any interest in her at all. I was bored of her actually and in hindsight…I don’t really know why I was attracted to her. Well…it was probably the fact that someone was showing some interest in me which is such a rare occurrence…but at this point in time…I wasn’t showing any interest in her and I really couldn't care less.

A little bit later, Eddie arrived…along with her was her sister. The rapport that I managed to develop with her sister in the short time that I spoke to her was quite amazing.

I haven’t known Eddie for that long either…but the bond we have was almost instantaneous. There are people in this world that you just “click” with…and she’s one of them.

After a while longer, Pasty arrives and as we all know…when Patsy and Eddie are around…it ends up being a very long night.

I wasn’t drinking at all (yay for me!) but Patsy had a few champagnes and Eddie had a cocktail. We talked and caught up and it was a bit obvious to everyone else that was there that the three of us were a “click”.

After doing the necessary socialising with the various people of importance, the three of us decided to head into the Nightlife District and get some dinner.

While we were wandering around the Nightlife District looking for somewhere to have dinner (K) [Henceforth known as The R&B Queen] pops out of one of the cafes and calls out to me. I went over to say hi and walked her inside again. Her sister [Henceforth known as The Journalist] was also inside.

I had a quick catch up with them…they commented on my new hair (they had previously seen it when it consisted of bright red spikes) and I asked them about their sister who had just had a baby yesterday morning.

I’ve seen photos of the kid and personally…I have to admit…the kid is kinda cute. Almost makes me want to have a kid of my own…not that I ever would.

Ha! Can you imagine how fucked up that child would be having the Devil’s Advocate as a father?

Anyway…both The R&B Queen and The Journalist invited me out to the club they were going to be at on Sunday night. Seeing as I was already going to be in the area I did say that I’d make the effort to say hello to them.

Eddie, Patsy and I found a nice restaurant a little further down the road and ordered our food and talked some more. The three of use talked about how our weird friendship had come about and how it had developed.

The relationship that I have with Patsy and Eddie is unique. I would never have imagined me even associating with these two but for some reason…our relationship works because we “click” and I wouldn't want it any other way.

And I think that’s when I realised what the true concept of friendship is all about. It’s that “click” factor. Some times you have it...sometimes you don't.

As per usual…we were all sober but still had the greatest time. The conversation flowed freely and there were never any awkward silences. Ok…maybe there was that one awkward moment of silence.

I was talking to Eddie and said to her: “You’re a dirty skanky whore…” when I was interrupted by the waitress (who, due to her bad timing, never heard the rest of what I was going to say) resulting in Eddie, Patsy and myself laughing hysterically.

What I had meant to say to Eddie was: “You’re a dirty skanky whore…and I that’s why I like you.

I was actually trying to compliment her…not insult her.

While we were having dinner, Patsy commented on the condition of my teeth. Apparently they're really nice. Well...I guess it's good to know that the daily teeth bleaching and brushing is actually working. Yay for me!

The dinner for the three of us came to a total of $73. I paid $55 (seeing as I make more than Patsy and Eddie combined) and I let Patsy and Eddie pay for the remainder. We ended up paying $75 and left the $2 tip for the cute waitress that had heard me call Eddie a dirty skanky whore.

From there, we walked back through the Nightlife District to where Patsy had parked her car before Eddie and I walked back to her car.

On the drive back to the train station to get my car, Eddie admitted to me that she had OCD. Ha! Like that was a surprise. I kinda noticed that when I had gone over to her place on New Year’s Eve and watched her lock up the security doors.

Anyway…the point was…she understands what it’s like to have echoes in your head that you can’t control and in talking with her…it seems that some of us have a gift…but for the universe to balance itself out…that gift also comes with a curse.

It made me feel a lot better to know that she sometimes has echoes too.

And as I was driving home at 2200...I was driving with a smile on my face.

I always have so much fun with my Ab Fab Girls.

I’m still smiling now.
