And This Song Is For Any Kid Who Gets Picked On. A Sick Song To Retaliate To, And It's Called...It's Fight Music!

Despite the fact that 6 months have lapsed and Devil only has a third of the number of character profiles of Season 1…he's happier about it all.

I'm actually pretty happy with the way things are going right now.

I have looming deadlines...but I'm feeling fine with them. I know I'll be fine...and even if I'm not...I'm a fighter...and I fight.

No Sacrifice. No Victory.

In the last week I’ve come to understand that the people that constitute the Character Profiles of Season 2 are far more aligned with my own beliefs and mentality…and I guess I realise now that a large part of it is because I don’t drink…I’ve had to find another commonality with these people…”like seeks like” and for me…the fact that these characters actually associate with me on a 1:1 basis has made me value them a little bit more than those of previous seasons.

On Wednesday at gymnastics, The Traceur has been teaching me a variety of tricks and movements and I think I’m slowly earning his respect. Like with anything, you don’t really earn the respect of those around you until can prove what you can do.

He’s been teaching me these moves and as an instructor…the methods in which he’s been teaching me have synchronised with the way that I learn.

For the majority of the lesson, he was showing me tricks and what-not and his competitive streak has helped me progress too. He’s effectively forced me to get better by keeping that one move ahead of me and trying to stay there. His sense of humour has also earned my respect too.

The Traceur: It’s my ambition to sleep with everyone in the world!
Devil: You mean the entire world’s population? Guys AND girls? Because that’s going to take a lot of time.
The Traceur: I know...I’m just going to have to pace myself. I had better get started though…which reminds me…what are you doing after this?
Devil: You apparently.
The Traceur: Hahahahahaha! I like your style.

I have no idea how we turned to that topic of conversation because just prior to it we were talking about cybernetics and immortality. He’s pretty random sometimes.

On Thursday, I went out for lunch with Eddie. She had been having a bit of a rough time lately and had had an emotional breakdown at work a few days previous. When she was talking to me about it she told me how surprised she was that someone else had mentioned something to her…something that she had always realised…but didn’t know that other people realised it too.

It seems that her co-workers have realised that I play a pivotal part in her life now. She’s always known that since we first clicked but she was surprised to find out that other people were able to see how important I was to her.

I think it was then that she realised that even though other people around her might fade away when things became too much for them…I wasn’t one of those people. I’m a fighter.

On Thursday night I spent some one-on-one time with The Belayer at the rock climbing centre. I’ve noticed that he possesses a considerable competitive quality that has helped me become better and that he also possesses issues of guilt. Both these traits are similar to that of my own…and that’s probably one of the reasons why we get along so well.

Knowing that he possesses these traits (and him knowing that I also have them) has allowed for a better understanding of myself, and each other.

With all things considered…it also makes me trust him a lot more than anyone else because I know it would never be misguided and that once his loyalty had been earned…it was loyalty forever…as would mine.

I love Fridays. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…but Fridays are my favourite day of the week. Not because it’s the last day of the working week (although that’s a part of it) but it’s because of what happens after work. As usual, I went to Pilates and rock climbing.

In the time since (R) broke his arm, he’s still been coming down on Friday nights and hanging out with the rest of the regular climbers which has shown a significant level of dedication to the sport.

Due to his injury though, he’s been forced to be sit on the sidelines and watch everyone else climb…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because he can actually concentrate on how moves are executed and where the feet are in relation to centre of mass.

Then we started playing a game of “Donkey” (where one person makes a move…then another person makes that move then adds one more and so on), as we usually do…except this time, I was trying to be a smart-ass and gave (R) the opportunity to start off a climb…and surprisingly he did…even with his broken arm.

In that instant I realised that he was one of the dedicated few. One of the few people that I had met that would fight on, despite adversity. He was a fighter…which basically means that he earned my respect in that instant.

On Saturday I did my weights in the morning and then went out to see Transformers in the afternoon with The Ferryman.

We first went for lunch at Hog’s Breath Café (which wasn’t too bad…I was a bit disappointed with the Chicken Salad though) but if you like a large part of your meal to be the meat…then this would be the place for you to go.

The Transformers movie itself. Oh My God!!! One of THE best movies I have seen in a long time. It had everything a great movie needed. Robots, cars, explosions, high-tech gadgets, threats to national security, aliens and OH MY GOD!! It was just so fucking awesome!!!

The casting of the main characters was excellent and the fact that they managed to get the ACTUAL voice of Optimus Prime from the cartoon series gave the movie MASSIVE credibility…and I may have possibly wet myself with excitement when I first saw Optimus Prime on the screen but that’s because the drink cover on my lid didn’t fit properly.

Ok…so I didn’t have a drink with me…but I don’t think that’s the real issue here.

Anyway…I digress…

Even while watching the opening scene, I had decided there and then, that I was going to see it again. The Ferryman had already seen it two times before, but was adamant that he was going to see it with me.

I’m glad he did too. It was one of the best movies I’ve seen this year (so far). Yes…I’ll admit it…it was better than Spiderman 3 (but not by much!) and I want to go and see it again.

The Transformers movie was everything I hoped it would be AND THEN SOME!! The cheesy dialogue, the classic lines, the robots, an excellent cast…it was everything it should have been.

In the evening I went for a light 30 minute jog and then stayed in during the night and did a bit of my research and watched The Transformers Movie (the cartoon) that The Matrix had given me.

It brought back memories of watching early morning cartoons in my racing car pyjamas and eating Fruit Loops straight from the box.

It made me feel all nostalgic and it also made me kind of wish I could do that sort of thing again. It would be nice to do it again and feel like a kid for a while.

But this was all before I had horns, wings and a tail...and when I had some innocence.

Today, it was our martial arts instructor’s birthday so the older students all got together and we went out with him for an early lunch to a Chinese restaurant for dim-sum.

I also got him a present for his birthday too…but it was only because I was the one that could easily afford to. Everyone else just chipped in to pay for the lunch with came to a total of about $90 for the 10 of us.

After lunch we all went off to training…like we usually do on a Sunday…for about 4 hours or so…to burn of all the extra calories we had eaten during lunch.

And right now, I’m working on the research paper that got accepted at the national conference.

And I want to be a Transformer!!
